Green Party of Canada – Annual General Meeting
May 22, 2014

1. Outgoing Report From the President 2013/2014
a. Scott and Lynn represented the Greens at the November Democracy Forum. Dr. Peter Russell gave an excellent talk. We are hoping for a Peace & Justice spin off event. In November, Joyce Hall organized and spoke at the Climate Change Rally. Scott represented the Greens at the Fair Elections Rally.
2. Financial Report Including an Update on Our Budget
a. Summary of Income and Expenses for 2013 – handout reviewed
b. We got rid of the office location, which has saved us a lot. There was some travel for training of the CFO and the other large chunk of our expenses was hydro and our post office box.
c. Donations – if you are joining you can pay in cash up to $25. We cannot accept cash over $25, so the donation must be in the form of a cheque.
d. Doug Cleverly moved for acceptance of the 2013 Statement of Account, seconded by Dan Blenkinsop, called for a vote by Scott Maxted, passed unanimously.
3. Call for Nominations for the 2014/2015 Executive Slate
a. Adrianne and Trevor will stand as Membership co-chairs for both the GPC and GPO, seconded by Scott Maxted, call to vote by Scott Maxted, passed unanimously.Tasha Schmidt will stand as Secretary for both the GPC and GPO, seconded by Scott Maxted, call to vote by Scott Maxted, passed unanimously.
b. Dan Blenkinsop will stand as Communications Chair, seconded by Scott Maxted, call to vote by Scott Maxted, passed unanimously.
c. Scott Maxted will stand as President, seconded by Don Rawls, call to vote by Scott Maxted, passed unanimously.
d. Doug Cleverly will stand for CFO, seconded by Scott Maxted, call to vote by Scott Maxted, passed unanimously.
e. Scott moved to close the nominations – All positions were acclaimed, passed unanimously.
f. Announcement by Scott Maxted: It is required to have both a President and CFO in order to continue as a riding association, and Scott Maxted, Dan Blenkinsop and Doug Cleverly are interested in passing on the torch for 2015/2016.
4. Amendment to GPC of Grey-Bruce Constitution
a. Proposed amendment: Change Part 3 of the Constitution, reduce the number of Chair positions that are required to be filled. Scott Maxted motion to amend, seconded by Don Rawls, call for a vote, passed unanimously.
5. Discussion
a. Ontario Provincial Election
i. Don Marshall is now CEO and Jerry Grant is CFO
ii. There is a lot of excitement and interest building around the 2014 GPO Candidate.
iii. We will be looking for a GPC candidate for the 2015 Federal election. Scott asks for volunteers to come forth to form a candidate selection committee, no volunteers stepped forward at this time.
iv. We will be working with Don Marshall from the GPO to develop training for new members and communications material.
v. We would like to work with Don Marshall from the GPO and volunteers to develop a membership card for both the GPO and GPC with dates which will indicate when membership is valid.
vi. We would like to bring back “thank you’s” for people who donate and volunteer, which might also include a Welcome Letter for new members.
