Chris Albinati stands up for democracy.

“MPs have a duty to contribute to and enrich democratic discussion with their own words, not shut it down or read pre-written scripts penned by the PMO.”

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Green Party candidate Chris Albinati wants to stand up for democracy and work to repair a broken system.
“More important than ever in this day and age, the essential role of the individual member of parliament (regardless of party stripe) is to uphold and defend democracy from the gridlock of partisan politics by not only representing their constituents interests, but connecting those specific interests to the national issues and discussions of the day.” said Albinati. “MPs have a duty to contribute to and enrich democratic discussion with their own words, not shut it down or read pre-written scripts penned by the PMO.”
Albinati was born in Winnipeg, but now lives in the Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound riding with his Wiarton-born wife and two children. He has degrees in law and journalism.
“I am an advocate by training,” he said. “My life’s work is committed to finding a way to represent voices who have been structurally excluded from the discussion. My skill set requires me to think on my feet and hold those I’m fighting for closest to my heart.”
Albinati believes Parliament is broken, saying the interests of citizens are sidelined by “partisan machines.”
Empathy, according to Albinati, is the solution to this problem and the issue of voter apathy.
“We need MPs who embody voter empathy,” he said. “We need MPs who realize that when they stand up in Parliament, their shoes are filled with the experiences, problems and interests of the thousands of people they represent.”
Albinati promises to be an empathetic MP – if elected – vowing to remember the needs of the riding are central and inseparable from his role and responsibilities in Ottawa.
“Elizabeth May has shown over the last four years that one MP can duke it out with the party robots in Parliament,” he said. “It’s time that we had more MPs like that in her corner.”
