An extract from a recent fund raising letter from the Green Party of Canada

The Promise
Green MPs will never put our short term electoral chances ahead of Canada's interests and our kid's future. And we promise that donations you send today will be set aside in our campaign hope chest to be ready for the next election. We plan to focus on the strongest ridings with the goal of electing at least the required number of MPs to gain official party status. We are attracting amazing candidates! I am very excited about the people who are gearing up now for their campaign launches in ridings across Canada .......

We do not have to win enough seats for the Green Party to form government. Even in my most outrageous bouts of optimism, I don’t see that possibility. But I do see clearly the possibility, even the likelihood, of a Green Party balance of power in a minority parliament......

Will the Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Riding be one of those 'strong ridings' to be focused upon? Not unless we receive a great deal more support for the local riding association both from existing GPC members and from local citizens who support the Green Party Vision but have yet to directly support the local or national organization.

This then is your invitation to get involved and make a difference, yes those donations are sorely needed to fund a campaign, (you know the GPC cannot compete with the Millions the Conservatives will spend on spin and lies) but that is not the only action you can take. Join the Green Party of Canada and, if you live in the riding, you will automatically become a member of the Bruce-Grey=Owen Sound Riding Association.
You may then have you say both here in our Forum, on the GPC national Members Forum and have input to our local campaign.

Only strong support from the community can produce a strong local campaign, don’t let those 'other' campaigns. who are supported by almost unlimited funds, to draw upon dominate the discussions about democracy, climate change, resource development, environmental protection etc etc that should (but probably wont) take place prior to the election.
